
Sauer Paces Offense With 3 Hits As Ocelots Top Monarchs
WARREN, MI – While wrapping up the 9-inning slate for MCCAA play, the Ocelots traveled to Macomb CC to face the Monarchs (12-7, 3-1).
With each team throwing early punches, the game would be tied 2-2 after 3 innings, the Ocelots would break things open in the top of the 4th. A Noah McCann double would be the highlight on the inning for Schoolcraft as Dalton Vance and Nick Bosilkovski would come around and score on the double. Later in the inning, Issander Vega and McCann would also cross the plate on wild pitches. Schoolcraft would extend their 6-2 lead in the top of the 7th thanks to an RBI double from Dominic Westfall. Westfall's double would loom large as Macomb would score 4 themselves in the bottom of the 8th to cut the Schoolcraft lead to 1. Cameron Brewer would work a 1-2-3 9th inning to register his first career save.
Leading the way to 11 total hits for Schoolcraft, Brady Sauer registered a team-high 3 hits while Vance and Westfall would also have multiple hits with 2. Owen Elsey started on the mound for the Ocelots, logging 5.1 innings while allowing 1 earned run and registering 6 strikeouts.
Schoolcraft returns to the diamond on Tuesday hosting the Concordia JV team with a doubleheader starting at 2:00.
