Thorn Leads The Way To A Sophomore Night Upset Victory

LIVONIA, MI – The Ocelots honored their 2 sophomores, Kechan Johnson and Marshall Thorn, before taking on the 19th ranked Henry Ford Hawks.

Schoolcraft would come out ready to roll for this contest, looking to avenge their 101-60 loss from January. During the first 20 minutes, Henry Ford would have the slight advantage, 40-36, while shooting 46.4% from the field. On the Ocelots side, Marshall Thorn's 14 first half points would allow the Ocelots to keep the game close. Kechan Johson would ass 9 points on 4-7 from the field.

The Ocelots would flip the script in the 2nd half. The defense for Schoolcraft would step up big time. Throughout the 2nd half, Schoolcraft would hold the Hawks to just 23.3% form the field and force 12 turnovers. On the offensive end, Schoolcraft would shoot 48.3% from the field with only 8 turnovers. The game would really turn to the Ocelots side with 11:30 remaining. A J'Vohn Walker layup would give Schoolcraft a 48-44 lead, the following 2 Henry Ford possessions would result in turnovers and the Ocelots would score 6 points off those turnovers to give them a 54-44 lead. Schoolcraft would do enough to keep it away from striking distance until the very end as the final score would read 75-69.

Thorn would finish the game with a game high 18 points while also a team leading 7 rebounds. Booker Washington would add 16 points followed by J'Vohn Walker with 13 points and Rael Cochran would add 13 points off the bench.

The Ocelots take a trip to Jackson on Saturday looking to move to 2-0 against the Jets on the season.
