Ocelots Begin 1-0 in a Region 12 Championship Rematch

LIVONIA, MI – The Ocelots began their 2024 season with a big MCCAA matchup. The 7^th ranked Ocelots squared off against GRCC in a Region 12 championship rematch from the 2023 season.

In the first half, Schoolcraft was dictating the pressure, accumulating 6 shots with all 6 being on goal, all saved by the GRCC keeper. However, in the 44^th minute, Luan Gargiolli was able to finally get one past the Grand Rapids keeper to push the Ocelots into the lead just before halftime.

Coming out of the break, Schoolcraft was looking to extend their lead and do it quickly. Cosmo Wagner would take that into his own hands, Wagner would rip one in the upper left corner to double the Ocelots lead just 3 minutes into the 2^nd half. In the 64^th minute, Khaled Souza would capitalize on a PK opportunity and 4 minutes later, Santino Bidawaid would cap off the 4-0 win for the Ocelots.

For the game, Schoolcraft would outshoot the Raiders 14-8 while Grand Rapids would make 7 saves to just Schoolcraft's 1 save.

The Ocelots return to the pitch at home on Friday, hosting the pe-season ranked #6 team in the country Prairie State. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM or 15 minutes after the women's game concludes.
