Schoolcraft Goes 2-0 On Second Day Of Spring Trip

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Schoolcraft returned to the diamond looking to win 2 games following a 1-1 start to their spring trip. 

Game 1 (Lackawanna)- 

The bottom of the lineup helped Schoolcraft capture an 11-0 victory over Lackawanna College Softball on Monday. Jordyn Emery, Kaitlyn Solberg, and Leilany Rubio combined for five of the team's nine hits in the victory. They scored four runs and drove in four.

Schoolcraft jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Sydney Scoggins tripled, scoring two runs, and Madison Gray singled, scoring one run. The Ocelots added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Gray walked, and Vanessa White hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. In the third, the Ocelots would add one more run as Lucy Whelan would single home a run. 

Solberg earned the win for the Ocelots. The starter allowed four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out two and walking two. 

Emery, Solberg, and Scoggins each collected two hits. Gray and Rubio each drove in two runs. Scoggins led the team with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Whelan stole three bases. Schoolcraft stole four bases in the game. 

Game 2 (Frederick)- 

Schoolcraft came out in game 2 firing on all cylinders against Frederick. The Ocelots got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after a passed ball scored one run, and an error scored two runs. In the bottom of the second inning, the lead would be extended when Sydney Scoggins singled, scoring one run, and Madison Gray doubled, scoring two runs.

Ava Swiatkowski earned the win for Schoolcraft. The hurler surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three. Riley O'Connell appeared in relief.

Scoggins provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Schoolcraft with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Gray, Scoggins, Olivia Mikowski, and Savina Olada each collected two hits for Schoolcraft. Melanie Buzo led the team with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Buzo, Grace Matheson, Raina Bonus, and Olada each stole multiple bases for the Ocelots.  

 

Schoolcraft returns tomorrow as they square off against MCCAA opponent Delta College at 9:00AM and USC Union at 1:00PM.
