NORTHVILLE, MI – On a rainy Saturday in March, the Ocelots hosted the Owls from Oakland Community College (10-16, 4-4) for an MCCAA conference doubleheader.
Game 1 – Schoolcraft would come out hot in game 1, scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st, highlighted b 2 doubles, 1 from Melanie Buzo, scoring 2 runs and another from Madison Gray, plating 1 run. However, the top of the 3rd would do the Ocelots in. Oakland would score 9 runs in the top of the 3rd to give the Owls a 10-4 lead after 3, following a single run in the 2nd. Oakland would tack on 2 more in the 5th, holding Schoolcraft to just the 4, finishing off the run-rule.
Vanessa White had a team-high 2 hits, also joining Buzo and Gray with doubles. Savina Olada, would also log a hit in the game.
Game 2- Looking to bounce back in the night cap, Schoolcraft would again jump out to a lead in the bottom of the 1st with 1 run scoring off an error. Oakland would take the lead in the 4th with 2 runs before Schoolcraft would grab it back in the bottom of the 5th with 3-runs, once again highlighted by a Buzo double, scoring 2 runs. The Ocelots would follow the 5th up with a 4-spot in the bottom of the 6th to give them an 8-4 lead. With the Owls scoring just 1 in the top of the 7th, the Ocelots finished off a split with the Owls.
Ava Swiatkowski got the start in the circle for Schoolcraft. On the way to her 2nd win of the year, Swiatkowski threw all 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and not giving up any walks.
Schoolcraft is back in action on Friday as they load the bus to Port Huron to take on the Skippers for a doubleheader.
