Overton Leads The Way In Opening Round Win

LIVONIA, MI – It was playoff basketball time in the OcelotZone as Schoolcraft played host to Oakland Community College in the Great Lakes District B Quarterfinal Game. The winner was slated to play Hocking College on Friday at 8:00PM at Mott Community College.

Things would start slow for Schoolcraft, allowing Oakland to hang around throughout the first 10 minutes of the contest. After 5 minutes of play, the scoreboard would only read 6-2 in favor of Schoolcraft. Over the last 5 minutes of the quarter, following the media timeout, OCC would outscore Schoolcraft 13-12. At the start of the 2nd quarter, Schoolcraft would lead 18-15 before the 29-11 quarter, in favor of the Ocelots, would push a 3-point lead to a 21-point halftime lead.

Things would only tilt more into Schoolcraft's favor throughout the remainder of the game. The Ocelots would outscore the Owls 37-21 in the 3rd quarter and 35-10 in the 4th quarter on their way to an opening round 119-57 victory.

For Schoolcraft, Garyana Overton would be a dominant force. Overton would lead the team in points with 28 and rebounds with 15. Other Ocelots in double figures would be Siena McNitt (17), Sharon Smith (15), Raegan Byrd (13) and Amelia Levine (16). McNitt would lead the team with 5 assists and Overton would also lead the team in steals with 3 and blocks with 6.
