Ocelots Cannot Hold Onto Halftime Lead Against #1 Ranked Delta

SAGINAW, MI – It was a battle of ranked opponents in the 1st MCCAA game of the year for the Ocelots.

Leading into the game, you knew this was going to be a competitive match with the Ocelots ranked 8th in the D2 poll and Dleta ranked 1st in the D3 poll. In the 1st half, Schoolcraft would outshoot the Pioneers 7-3, proving their offensive pressure by drawing a PK in the 40th minute that Daniela Alvarez would capitalize on for her 5th goal of the season. The Alvarez goal would be all the game produced in the 1st half as the Ocelots would lead 1-0 after 45 minutes.

Delta would turn up their offensive presence in the 2nd half, outshooting the Ocelots 8-6. Making 3 total saves in the 2nd half, Kate Shippe would be unable to stop all that she saw, Delta would score in the 55th minute on a header to tie the game and then again in the 61st minute on a shot just outside of the box. Schoolcraft would make an effort to tie the game back up, making the Delta keeper stop 4 shots in the half, but would be unable to get 1 past Mia Warner.

The Ocelots return to the pitch on Friday, to host another ranked match, a Region 12 Championship rematch with the Bruins from Kellogg Community College. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 at the Ocelot Soccer Complex.
