MUSKEGON, Mi – The Ocelots hit the road on Wednesday to face off against a Muskegon Jayhawks team who was 1-5 in conference and 1-8 overall. The game was played at Orchard View High School.
Shots for the Ocelots would not be at a premium for the contest but, the Jayhawks would be the ones who would be on the scoreboard first. Muskegon's Brooklyn Watts would put the Ocelots down 1-0 in just the 3rd minute of play. Schoolcraft would take 18 minutes to strike back but once they did, they would not look back. In the 21sy minute, Daniela Alvarez would knot the game at 1 with help from Jessica Clyde. Just 16 minutes later, Alvarez again, would put the Ocelots into the lead.
It would take until the 2nd half until the Ocelots would extend their lead. In the 62nd minute, Jessica Clyde would net her 15th goal of the season pushing the Schoolcraft lead to 2 goals. Kira Johnson would score her 2nd goal of the season on her lone shot on goal to make it 4-1 followed by Clyde's 2nd goal of the game in the 78th minute to close out a 5-1 win.
Schoolcraft would tally 16 shots with Clyde leading the team with 4 and Victoria Kebbe not far behind with 3. Kate Shippe would get the start in net and stop 6 of 7 shots she would see.
Next for the Ocelots is another MCCAA matchup on the road as the Ocelots will travel to face the Raiders from Grand Rapids Community College on Friday. In a nonconference matchup earlier in the year, Schoolcraft came out on top 4-0.
