MARYSVILLE, MI – Schoolcraft began region 12 play in the postseason as the 2 seed, squaring off against Kellogg Community College who knocked off the Ocelots in the region 12 championship last year.
Things got started quickly for Kellogg who took the lead in the 14th minute on a goal from Evelyn Alward. Just 8 minutes later, Schoolcraft would be able to tie the game at 1 thanks to Daniela Alvarez. For the 1st half, Kellogg would outshoot Schoolcraft 7-3 with starter Kate Shippe saving 4 Bruin shots.
Things would flip in the 2nd half. Kaiyah Gromadzki would put the Ocelots in the lead in the 54th minute on an unassisted goal. However, the lead would not last to the final whistle. Kellogg scored in the 81st minute to tie the game at 2 apiece. For the 2nd half, Schoolcraft would outshoot Kellogg 12-1 with Kellogg's goalie making 5 saves.
No action would be had in either of the overtime periods. Moving onto the penalty kicks, Each team would score on 1 of their first 5 with Kellogg scoring on their 6th with Schoolcraft failing to do so.
Kellogg advanced to the regional final leaving the Ocelots looking for another bid into the NJCAA National Tournament.
