Baseball Splits Again with Mott

Flint, MI- On Monday (April 10) the Schoolcraft baseball team traveled down to Flint for a rescheduled conference doubleheader against the Mott Bears.

Game 1:  In game 1, there was not much action for Schoolcraft. Up until the top of the seventh, all of the games action would come from the Bears as Mott would lead 9-0 heading into the top of the seventh. Schoolcraft would show some fight in the seventh as the Ocelots would plate three runs to make the final score 9-3, in favor of Mott. The big inning for Mott would be the bottom of the second as the Bears would plate six runs in the inning. For the Ocelots, the team would only register four total hits with #50 Bryan Tuttle providing three of the four hits. #18 Landon Kempainen would be the other Ocelot that would enter the hit column. 

Game 2: Game two would feature a better result for the Ocelots. Schoolcraft would get on the board first, and often as they scored a run in the top of the first to take the quick lead. Mott would score in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at one all. That Mott run in the bottom of the first would be the only run that Mott would score throughout the contest. In total, Schoolcraft would score in four out of the seven innings for the game. The Ocelots mustered nine hits for the game, highlighted by #24 Andrew Thorning (2-4, 3 R), #18 Landon Kempainen (2-3, 1 R) and #22 Nate Saavedra (2-2, 1 RBI). Other Ocelots to get in the hit column would be, #1 Sawyer Pace (1-3, 1 R), #50 Bryan Tutte (1-4, 1 RBI), and #2 Slade Douthett (1-2, 2 BB). The Schoolcraft pitching dominted througout, #10 Philip Miller threw a quality start in the win going, 5.1 IP, 1 ER, 6 K. #14 Luke Stevenson would follow Miller out of the pen in dominating fashion throwing 1.1 IP and registering 4 K. Schoolcraft would win game two by a score of 7-1.

The Ocelots have six more games remainging this week. On Wednesday (April 12), Schoolcraft hosts Cleary University for a DH before their conference weekend series against Macomb (5-19, 0-9). Schoolcraft will host Macomb for a DH on Thursday (April 13) before traveling to Macomb on Saturday (April 15) for another DH to close out the season series. Schoolcraft took game one of the season series by a score of 13-2.
