Ocelots Dominate in DH

DETROIT, Mich- On Tuesday (April 25), the Ocelots hosted the Commodores from Lorain County Community College for a non-conference doubleheader. Schoolcraft came into the day looking to better their program best 22-19 record on the year. 

Game 1- The offense struck early and often in game 1 of the DH. Schoolcraft was able to put up two runs in the first inning and never looked back from there. The Ocelots would score in every inning of the contest, resulting in a 13-2 victory in five innings. For the game, Schoolcraft would muster 13 total hits, including three extra base hits. John Sowards would have a double to go along with his 1-1 day, tallying three sacrifice flies. Landon Kempainen (1-1 with 3 BB) would have a triple be his lone hit for the game and Barrett Barker would also tack on a triple in his 2-2 game. Other Ocelots who got a hit were, Ryan Koch (1-3), Carson Sollars (3-3), Tyler Allos (1-3), Arturo Delgado (1-2), and Jacob Gresham (1-1). Every Ocelot in the lineup would tack on a hit for game 1. Luke Stevenson got the start for the Ocelots, his line would read, 3 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, and 3 K. Garrett Hall would come on to throw the last two innings while also tallying 4 K. 

Game 2- Game 2 saw a similar game for Schoolcraft, offense early and often. Once again, Schoocraft would score runs in every inning, including a six spot in the bottom of the third inning. In game two, Schoolcraft would pull out the mercy win, 15-0. Just like in game one, Schoolcraft tallied 13 hits with 8 out of the 9 Ocelots recording a hit. Noah Felder and Barrett Barker would lead the offense with three hits a piece. Felder would record a triple and Barker would record a double. Nate Saavedra would also record a double in his 1-2 day, including a walk. Other Ocelots with hits would be, Gresham (1-2), Mason Malysz (1-1), Bryan Tuttle (1-2), Bryce Schwab (2-3), and Zach Perpich (1-3). Schoolcraft would draw six walks in the game compared to only striking out one time. Carlos Plascencia got the start on the mound. Plascencia would go 3 innings of 0 run baseball and also record 7 strikeouts. Joe Elwell followed Plascencia up with 2 IP, 2 BB and 2 K. 

Schoolcraft is back in action on Thursday (April 27), starting a big conference weekend against Jackson College. Schoolcraft goes into the weekend in second place for the Eastern Division, one game ahead of Henry Ford. Thursday will be home, starting at 2:00 PM before the Ocelots travel to Jackson on Saturday (April 29) for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM.
