Ocelots Downed by Lakers in DH

DETROIT, MI – Coming into the day on a 5-game winning streak, the Ocelots would welcome Mid–Michigan for a doubleheader.

Game 1 – In the first game of the doubleheader, the Lakers would jump out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Philip Miller, who got the start on the mound, would shut down the Laker offense from then on to the 5th inning when he would allow just 1 run. Before the 5th inning, Schoolcraft would tie the game with a single run in both the 2nd and 4th innings. Following the lone run from Mid-Michigan, the Ocelots would follow it up with 3 runs of their own. By tacking on 2 more runs in the 6th, Schoolcraft would lead 7-3 heading into the 7th. Mid-Michigan would rally for 6 runs in the inning and keep Schoolcraft off of the board in the bottom half to down the Ocelots 9-7.Bryan Tuttle and Dalton Vance would lead the offensive charge for the Ocelots. Tuttle and Vance would each go 2/3 with 2 RBI's.

Game 2 – Game 2 would see the Lakers jump out to an early lead once again. However, it would not be until the 3rd inning when Mid-Michigan would put a 3 spot up on the board. In the 4th, Mid-Michigan would extend their lead to 8 by scoring 5 runs in the top of the 4th. The Ocelots would try to begin to chip away in the 5th by plating 2 runs. However, they would fail to get a shutdown inning as the Lakers would quickly get those 2 runs back. Schoolcraft would score 2 more in the 6th and 3 more in the 7th, but it would prove to be too little too late. Tuttle would once again pace the offense with 2 more hits and bringing in 2 more runs. Joaquin Maldonado would pitch a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts out of the bullpen.

Schoolcraft is back in action tomorrow as they travel to the west side of the state for a doubleheader against Glen Oaks. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
