Schoolcraft Bounces Back With A DH Sweep

CENTREVILLE, MI – Looking to bounce back from getting swept the night before, Schoolcraft headed to the west-side for 2 games against Glen Oaks.

Game 1 – With only getting 7 hits on the day, the Ocelots' offense wasn't up to what it has been recently. However, Schoolcraft would make sure to capitalize on 5 errors made by the Vikings to come out on top by a score of 10-8. Tashawn Eatmon would lead the team in hits with 3 and also driving in 2 runs. The only person to drive in more runs than Eatmon would be Owen Elsey who cashed in 3 runs while going 2-4 at the plate. Schoolcraft would score in all by 1 inning, ensuring the offense would score enough for a trio of Austin Smolenski, Dominic Westfall and Barrett Barker. Westfall would earn the win out of the bullpen, while Barker would come out of the bullpen for a 1 out save.

Game 2 – Pitching and offense would combine for one of the best games of the season for Schoolcraft. With 11 total hits and only 5 hits given up, Schoolcraft would mercy the Vikings by a score of 13-1 in 5 innings. The big inning would come in the 2nd for Schoolcraft. By putting up an 8 spot, it would all but wrap things up as the Ocelots would lead 8-1 after 2 innings before taking on 2 more in the 4th and 3 more in the 5th. Elsey would have another good game at the plate going 3/3 with 2 RBI's and 2 doubles. Brady Sauer would join Elsey in the doubles club in his lone at-bat of the game. Showing off the power was Kayvon Justice would be 1-2 at the plate but made his hit count by launching a 2-run blast in that 4th inning. John Sowards would get the start and the win by going 4 innings with 7 strikeouts before Calbin Gonzalez would come on to pitch the 5th inning, allowing 0 hits and striking out 1.

Schoolcraft begins conference play on Tuesday by going on the road. The Ocelots will travel to Flint to take on the Mott CC Bears in a single 9 inning game starting at 2:00 PM.
