9th Inning Leads to Ocelot Victory

DETROIT, MI – Just like the most recent game against Mott, Schoolcraft found themselves playing at home, as the away team. Schoolcraft entered the day still looking for their 1st conference win of the year.

Things would get started early for the Ocelots. With 1 out in the first inning, a passed ball would allow Tashawn Eatmon to come into score who began the game with a walk. A quick 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half would bring the Ocelots back up to the plate. Once again, Schoolcraft would score on a passed ball, this time bringing in Jacob Gresham who reached on an error earlier in the inning. Things would go quiet on the offensive end for Schoolcraft from there. St. Clair would tie the game up in the bottom of the 4th on a 2 out single into center field. No more offense would come until the top of the 9th. With 2 outs, Bryan Tuttle would reach base with a single and the offense would go from there. The Ocelots would plate 3 runs in the inning with John Sowards getting a quick 1-2-3 9th inning to close out the 5-2 Ocelot win.

On the mound for the Ocelots was a pair of pitchers. Austin Smolenski got the start, going 4 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 2 earned runs while striking out 5 Skippers. Coming in for Smolenski was the aforementioned Sowards. Sowards would finish the game, going 5 innings, allowing 0 runs, and striking out 5.

Schoolcraft returns to the diamond in a true road game, tomorrow, as they make the trip southwest to Jackson College for a single 9 inning game. The first pitch is slated for 2:00PM.
