Ocelots Fall Just Short of a DH Sweep

FLINT, MI – The Ocelots hit the road to Kearsley Park on Sunday to wrap up their MCCAA season series with the Bears from Mott Community College.

Game 1 – Game 1 would prove to be all Ocelots. Unlike the previous day, Schoolcraft would not have any issues scoring runs. Thanks to scoring 6 runs in the top of the 1st, Schoolcraft would be able to cruise to an 11-1 victory. Leading the offense would be the designated hitter, Tyler Allos. For the game, Allos would go 3-3 including scoring 2 runs and bringing 2 runs home. Miguel Hinojos, who got the start in left field, had a big double that plated 2 runs for the Ocelots. Schoolcraft would have, in total, 10 hits and walk 6 times.

Carlos Plascencia got the start on the mound for Schoolcraft. Plascencia would go all 5 innings, allowing just 1 run, 5 hits while striking out 6 Mott hitters.

Game 2 – Game 2 had potential to be another high run affair between the 2 teams with both squads scoring a run in the 1st inning. However, 0's would continue to be posted on the scoreboard until the 5th inning. The Ocelots would be able to break the tie in the 5th on a single from Andrew Thorning, scoring Barrett Barker. Unfortunately, that would not be enough for the Ocelots. Mott would score 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to steal a win away from the Ocelots.

Riley Niggemeyer got the start on the bump for Schoolcraft. Niggemeyer would go 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, and strike out 5 batters.

Schoolcraft returns home on Tuesday as they host Kalamazoo Valley Community College (13-11) for a doubleheader.
