Offensive Outburst Leads Schoolcraft to First Win

LIVONIA, MI- The Schoolcraft Ocelots men's basketball entered Thursday's games still looking for their first win on the season.

From the first couple of minutes of the game, this one would prove to be all Schoolcraft for the night. It started with an Ocelots 9-0 run to start the game, followed by another 9-0 run immediately after Great Lakes scored their first basket. Thru the first 6 minutes of the 1st half, it was 18-2 in favor of Schoolcraft. It took just over 10 minutes for Great Lakes to reach double digits, and by that time, the score read 35-10 Schoolcraft. The Crusaders scored their final basket of the 1st half with 2:25 remaining. From there on, the Ocelots finished the first half with a 15-0 run to enter the half with a score of 67-25.

The 2nd half would see much of the same. Both offenses would come out of the locker room with a slow start, Great Lakes would score the first basket 2:28 into the 2nd half. But once that lid got taken off, the offenses woke up. Schoolcraft would never let Great Lakes make any runs in the 2nd half as the Ocelots would outscore the Crusaders by a total of 54-36 in the 2nd half.

It was an offensive outburst for Schoolcraft, something they have been waiting for. Schoolcraft would shoot 57.1% from the field including 50% (17-34) from behind the arc. Free throws were an issue for Schoolcraft, out of 15 attempts, Schoolcraft would only make 8 of them (53.3%). The 121 points scored by Schoolcraft is the 1st time the program has surpassed the 120-point mark since January 17, 2015, when they defeated Henry Ford by a score of 125-89. Mackhi Jackson led the way for Schoolcraft posting 33 points including 7-11 from 3. Other Ocelots in double figure were Ashton Henderson, Kechan Johnson, Keon Henderson, Te'John McGowan, and Semaj Sanders

The Ocelots are back in action on Saturday, November 18, as they welcome in the #19 ranked team, the Mid Michigan Lakers. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 PM in the Ocelot Zone.
