Ocelots Earn Top-20 Win

LIVONIA, Mi – The Schoolcraft Ocelots welcomed in the Hawks from Henry Ford looking to upset the 19th ranked team in the county.

The Ocelots were ready to roll from the opening tip. Daniel Lee would start the game with a 3-pointer and the offense would be rolling. Throughout the first 10 minutes of the game, Schoolcraft would outscore the Hawks 25-20 while leading by as much as 11. Henry Ford would show why they were ranked #19 in the latter stages of the 1st half. With just under 4 minutes remaining in the opening half, Henry Ford would lead by a score of 40-31. In the span on the next 2 minutes, Schoolcraft would go on a quick 9-0 run to tie the game. Going into the half, the Ocelots would lead 46-41. Mackhi Jackson led the way with 13 points in the half, closely followed by Daniel Lee who would score 12 in the half.

This was not the first time Schoolcraft has led a ranked team at the half. The Ocelots led Macomb by a score of 35-28 and Mott with a score of 42-32. Unfortunately, neither of those games would go in Schoolcraft's favor. This time, that trend would be reversed. Schoolcraft would outscore the Hawks again in the 2nd half and would lead by as many as 20 in the half before Henry Ford would make a late game run. The lead the Ocelots built up would prove to be just enough to hold off Henry Ford as the Hawks made it interesting at the end and got the Ocelot lead down to 5. Keon Henderson would have a big 2nd half scoring 14 points and adding 2 assists.

Henderson would lead all Ocelots with 22 points while his brother, Ashton Henderson, would add 13 points. Mackhi Jackson would have a day as well scoring 21 points. Daniel Lee would lead the team in rebounds with 7 while pitching in 17 points. As a team, Schoolcraft would have a solid day from behind the arc, shooting 8-16 from 3.

The Ocelots hit the road for 5 straight games starting with a trip to Jackson on Wednesday. Tip-off is slated for 7:30PM.
