Schoolcraft Upsets #1 Morton

CICERO, IL- The #17 ranked Schoolcraft Ocelots (1-0, 2-1) went on the road today (August 25) and upset the #1 ranked Morton College Panthers (0-1-1).

It was a very active first half for both teams. The Ocelots would post 7 shots compared to Morton's 4 however, no one would put one in the net. Brenden Ware would save all 4 of Morton's shots in the first half. The whistle would be active in the first half as the Ocelots would draw  11 Moton fouls and Schoolcraft would foul Morton a total of 8 times in the half. Alex Wenske would pick up a yellow card in the 18th minute and Morton would receive a yellow in the 28th minute. After 45 minutes, the score would be 0-0.

Schoolcraft would come out hot in the second half, Tommy Mittelstadt would put the Ocelots in the lead just 5 minutes into the half. Mittelstadt's goal would be assisted by Dante Davidson and Gavin Brose. It would take just 12 minutes for Morton to even things up at 1 a piece but just 13 minutes after Morton's goal (75th minute) Gavin Lamere would put the Ocelots back into the lead with help from Brose again. Playing at 10 men a side (Lamere and a Morton player would get coinciding red cards), Matheus Barbosa would put the Ocelots up 3-1 with an 88th minute goal with help from Diego Ayala and Davidson again. Beside the 2 red cards, 5 other cards would be shown in the second half, 3 yellows for Schoolcraft (Brose, Barbosa and Caetano Amaral) and 2 for Morton. Ware would stand on his head in the second half making 9 total saves equaling 13 for the whole game. Morton would outshoot the Ocelots 14-11 but also out foul the Ocelots 19-14.

Schoolcraft returns to the pitch on Tuesday (August 29) as they play host to MCCAA foe Jackson College (0-1-1). Kick-off is slated for 3pm at the Ocelot Soccer Complex.
