3 Goals is Just Enough in Top-15 Win for #5 Ocelots

LIVONIA, Mi- The #5 ranked Schoolcraft Ocelots men's soccer team came out victorious in a NJCAA top-15 matchup.

Things would get going quickly for the Ocelots, as they often have. Dante Davidson flicked in a crosse from Dominic Maisano and Gavin Brose to put the Ocelots up 1-0 in just the 4th minute of the game.  Things would continue to move quickly for the Ocelots as they were playing fast, and things would lead to the Ocelots drawing a penalty in the box resulting in Matheus Barbosa ripping in the pk to put the Ocelots in the lead by a score of 2-0 in just the 7th minute. Things would settle down for a little until Schoolcraft would draw a foul just outside of the 18-yard box meaning it was a green light for Gavin Brose and he would not miss his opportunity. After twenty-nine minutes of play, Schoolcraft would lead the #13 GRCC 3-0. That score would stick through halftime as after forty minutes of play, Schoolcraft led 3-0.

In the second half, GRCC would show why they are ranked top-15. The Raiders would up the pressure in the second half and finally break through in the 72nd minute. Things would not stop there, just like Schoolcraft did, GRCC would draw and capitalize on a pk for their second goal of the game. With thirteen minutes left to play, the Ocelot lead would be down to one. However, Brenden Ware and the Schoolcraft defense would lock down and throw away any chances GRCC would create. The 3-0 lead Schoolcraft built in the first half would be just enough to escape with a victory.

Brenden Ware got the start in the game, earning his eighth win of the season while saving 4/6 GRCC shots.

The Ocelots were scheduled to be back in action on Friday, October 13, against Bryant & Stratton but that game has unfortunately been forfeited by B&S due to their number of available players. Stay tuned for Ocelots updates as we get closer to postseason action!
