Ocelots Fall in Doubleheader to Oakland

Oakland, Mi- On Sunday (April 2) the Schoolcraft Ocelots softball team was finally able to get a couple games in after a flurry of postponements. After a slight change to the schedule due to another postponded game, the Ocelots traveled to Oakland Community Collge for their first two conference games.

In game one of the doubleheader, Schoolcraft would take the quick lead after scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Oakland would respond with a run of their own in the bottom half as Schoolcraft led 2-1 after one inning of play. In the third inning, Oakland would tie the game up with another run. Again, in the bottom of the fourth, Oakland would strike twice to take the lead 4-2 after four innings of play. The sixth inning is where Oakland took control, scoring seven total runs in the inning to end the ball game. Oakland wound up winning game one by a score of 11-3. The game one leaders for the Ocelots were, #12 Paisley Stevens (2-3), #14 Madelyn Latham (2-3) and five other Ocelots who each registered a hit. 

In game two of the doubleheader, the storylines were much the same. Oakland would use two big innings, the second and fourth innings, to socre all of their runs in. Schoolcraft was able to get on the board in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead before Oakland would score six in the bottom half. The final score for game two was 11-1 in favor of Oakland. The leaders for the Ocelots in game two were, #5 Sophie Bater (2-2), #2 Macy Collett (1-3), #15 Kathryn Koszykowski (1-1), and #10 Ella Hayes (1-2). 

Schoolcraft is schedule to be back in action on Tuesday (April 4) when they play host to St. Clair County Community College. Game 1 of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
