Weekly Softball Recap

Livonia, Mich- It was a busy week on the diamond for the Schoolcraft Ocelots softball team. The girls had a total of 10 games scheduled over the past week. Suprisingly, given the recent trouble we've seen trying to get our softball games in, the Ocelots were able to complete 9 out of the 10 scheduled games. Their scheduled games included, 2 games against, Mott, Macomb, St. Clair, Oakland and Henry Ford. The final doubleheader against Henry Ford was shortned as they had to suspend the second game due to weather. 

Mott- On Tuesday (April 11), the Ocelots hosted the Bears from Mott in what would be their second time hosting them in four days. Schoolcraft was looking to string some wins together coming off of a doubeheader split a few days before against Macomb. The Ocelots would be unable to get a win as they would lose both ganes, 5-2 and 14-6. In game 1, #2 Macy Collett went 3-4 in the game and #18 Bridget Bogden went 2-4 with 2 RBI's. The offense in game 2 was led by #24 Amber Burzlaff who went 2-3 with 1 RBI. Other Ocelots who got a hit in game 2 were, #6 Julia Cavazos, #23 Kylee Wodowski, #9 Aubrey Johnson, #21 Natalie Conn, Bogden and Collett. 

Macomb- Following Mott, Schoolcraft would travel to Macomb for a doubleheader with the Monarchs. The Ocelots would gain a split with the Monarchs, dropping game 1 by a score of 4-1 but following that up with a 4-0 win. Game 1 saw a lot of hits for the Ocelots, twelve total, but only one run on the board. Three Ocelots had multiple hits in the game, Macy Collett (3), Amber Burzlaff (2), and Bridget Bogden (2). Other Ocelots who had a hit were, Wodowski, #4 Sarah Collins, #15 Kathryn Koszykowski, #8 Emily Robinson and #10 Ella Hayes. #3 Shannon Mosesso threw six innings and registered seven strikeouts while only giving up 2 earned runs. The Ocelots would have seven hits in game 2, led by, Bridget Bogden (2). Five other Ocelots, Wodowski, Koszykowski, Collins, Conn, and Collett all tacked on a hit. #5 Sophie Bater got the win on the mound, throwing seven shutout innings and also racking up seven strikeouts. 

St. Clair- Schoolcraft would trturn home to square off against the Skippers from St. Clair. It was a successful day for Schoolcraft, swpeeing the doubleheader and winning three games in a row. The first game finished in walkof fashion with a score of 11-10, which saw plenty of offense for Schoolcraft with 15 total hits. 5 girls would have multiple hits, Burzlaff (2), Collins (3), Stevens (2), Bogden (3), and Robsinson (2). Other Ocelots who got a hit were, Collett, Koszykowski and Cavazos. #12 Paisley Stevens had the walkoff hit and she singled to right center that scored Collins from second. Game 2 saw the Ocelots victorious, 8-6, in what was a shortened game due to darkness. Schoolcraft was highlighted by a seven run third inning in which they took control of the game and never loooked back. Collins, Robinson and Bogden pitched in with two hits each. Collett, Burzlaff, Mosesso, Stevens, and Cavazos all knocked on a hit as well. 

Oakland- The next day saw Schoolcraft welcome in the undefeated Raiders from Oakland Community College. Schoolcraft held their own against Oakland, losing both games by scores of 3-2 and 6-4. Seven hits were dispersed over 6 Ocelots as Collett, Burzlaff, Conn, Collins and Koszykowski all had a hit and Paisley Stevens led the charge with 2 hits. Shannon Mosesso would throw all 7 innings for the Ocelots. Game 2 saw 12 total hits for Schoolcraft, led by Natalie Conn (4-4). #17 Emily Wiltsie thew for Schoolcraft, going 7 innings, and only giving up 2 earned runs. 

Henry Ford- Schoolcraft would get shutout in game 1 of the doubleheader and the final score would be 7-0. Game 2 of that doubleheader got suspended in the bottom of the first due to weather. 

This upcoming week for the Ocelots sees them with 6 total games. On Tuesday, they travel to St. Clair. Friday the Ocelots play host to Henry Ford and on Saturday, Schoolcraft travels to Mott.
