#15 Ocelots Earn Early Season Ranked Win

LIVONIA, MI- The #15 ranked Ocelots (1-0, 0-0) entered Thursday's game looking for their first ranked win of the year against #20 Illinois Central College (2-1).

From the opening tip-off, you could tell this was a top-20 matchup. For the first 10 minutes, there was nothing that could separate either team. Schoolcraft would be able to pull away a little in the second quarter. Schoolcraft was led by Demi Rodriguez and Sydney McCaig who each put up 5 points in the quarter.

The 2^nd half is where Schoolcraft would show they are the higher ranked team. In the 3^rd quarter, Schoolcraft would outscore the Cougars by a total of 20-13. This time, it was Kyra Lawrence and Taylor Williams leading the Ocelot offense with 5 points each over those 10 minutes. In the 4^th quarter, Schoolcraft would make sure to extend their lead to put this game away. A different Ocelot would once again lead the offense in this quarter, Sharon Smith would put up 6 points in the quarter to make sure Schoolcraft would come away with a victory. After 40 minutes of basketball, #15 Schoolcraft would push their record to 2-0 with a 70-54 victory.

The offense was led by Sharon Smith, Smith would put up 20 points on 10-13 shooting in 38 minutes. Other Ocelots in double figures were the previously mentioned Demi Rodriguez (14 points) and Sydney McCaig (10 points). Rodriguez would also lead the Ocelots in rebounds with 9 and Smith would lead the Ocelots in assists with 3.

The 15^th ranked Ocelots are back in action on Saturday, November 18, as they welcome the Lakers from Mid Michigan into the Ocelot Zone. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
