Ocelots Falter On The Road

PIQUA, OH- The Schoolcraft women's basketball team hit the road on Tuesday looking to extend their winning streak to 6 games against the Chargers from Edison State.

Things were looking good for the Ocelots after the 1st quarter. Schoolcraft would lead the Chargers 12-3 after the first 10 minutes. Edison State would make some changes on the offensive end going into the 2nd quarter. Edison State would score 20 more points than they did in the 1st quarter, 23 total points, to outscore the Ocelots by 8 points and to go into the half with a score of Schoolcraft 27 and Edison State 26. Schoolcraft would find a way to make an adjustment coming out of the half. The Chargers would only score 14 points in the quarter compared to the 19 from Schoolcraft. Going into the final 10 minutes of the game, Schoolcraft led by 6 points. Like we saw in the 2nd quarter, Edison State would find a way to make an adjustment to what the Ocelots were throwing their way. In the 4th quarter, Edison State would hold Schoolcraft to only 8 points while scoring 18 points themselves. The game of adjustments would fall in favor of Edison State by a score of 58-54.

The 54 points score by Schoolcraft would fall way below their average; the average points scored for Schoolcraft going into the game was 69.4. The Ocelots did not convert on a 3 point look for the entire game, the first time all season, going 0/21 from behind the arc. The Ocelots also did not shoot at least 35% from the floor for the first time all season, a total of 29.9% for the game. Kyra Lawrence (11) and Sharon Smith (11) were the only Ocelots in double figures.

The Ocelots will have a quick turnaround and look to get back into the win column tomorrow, December 20, as they welcome Cuyahoga Community College into the OcelotZone. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 PM.
