Bio

Nicole Burford, known as Coach B, serves as the Director of Player Development for Schoolcraft Women's Basketball. She brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and coaching experience to the Ocelots program. Coach B served as an Assistant Coach for Winthrop University from 2019-2021 and an Assistant Coach at Oakland University from 2016-19. 

 

Prior to joining Oakland, Burford spent six seasons as the head coach of the women's basketball program at Olivet College. In 2013-14, Burford guided the Comets to a 22-4 overall record setting a single-season school record for wins including a second place MIAA finish with a program best 14-2 mark. In addition, Olivet was ranked 18th and 19th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll for the first time in school history. The Comets also hosted a MIAA women's basketball tournament game for the first time in program history. In her time at Olivet, Coach B lead the Comets to a 74-74 overall record and four consecutive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament berths. She also served as an assistant coach for three years prior to the promotion.

 

Prior to joining the Olivet staff, Burford was an assistant women's basketball coach and instructor of physical education at Kalamazoo College.

 

Coach B is the founder and owner of On The Rise Training, where she provides personal training, skill development and basketball coaching consulting.

 

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Burford earned a bachelor's degree from Oberlin in 2005 and master's degree from Western Michigan University in 2007.
