Second Half Goal Downs Ocelots

Second Half Goal Downs Ocelots

Livonia, MI- The Schoolcraft Ocelots played host to the #8 team in the country, Northeast Community College. From the first kick, the two teams played back and forth for the whole 90 minutes showing they were both top ten programs.

It was not a very physical contest between the two teams, only one card was shown in the 25th minute to #2 Anna Oynoian. There would be six total Ocelot fouls, three more in the first half and only two total in the second half to equal six total for Schoolcraft. Northeast would have a total of eleven fouls throughout both halves. The 8 Schoolcraft shots compared to the 6 Northeast shots in the first half kept things interesting and active for both goalkeepers as #0 Jami Martindale would tally five saves in the first half matching Northeast's keeper. With both goalies making numerous saves, the score would remain deadlocked at 0-0 with 45 minutes played.

Midway through the second half, 65th minute, Northeast would sneak one past Martindale to take the 1-0 lead. The Ocelots would have plenty of opportunities throughout the rest of the game to knot the score up but just could not get one past. Schoolcraft totaled two shots in the last 10 minutes, their only two shots of the second half, which certainly made things interesting. Schoolcraft had a total of eight corner kicks over the game, three in the second half, but just could not get a bounce to go their way.

#15 Victoria Kebbe would tie #3 Kyra Brandon in shots with three, but Kebbe would lead the Ocelots in shots on goal with 2. Other Ocelots with shots would be, #5 Paige Stephens (1), #7 Isabela Grande (1), #8 Ashley Hughes (1), #17 Daniela Alvarez (1) and #21 Ileanne Zuniga (1). Alvarez, Hughes, Grande, Stephens, and Brandon would be the other Ocelots to put their shots on goal.

The Ocelots return to the pitch tomorrow (8/18) as they host a conference foe Muskegon Community College. The match is set to start at 1pm at the Ocelot Soccer Complex.
