#7 Ranked Ocelots Continue Winning

LIVONIA, Mi- The Schoolcraft women's soccer team pushed their record to 8-3-0 after a 1-0 win over Lake Michigan College.

It what would turn out to be the opposite of the men's victory, goals would prove hard to come by in this contest.  There were plenty of chances for the Ocelots in the first half, eight total shots. However, they would only be able to get one shot past the keeper in the 28th minute when Samantha Guicardo would net her second goal of the season with help from Victoria Kebbe. To go along with the eight shots, Schoolcraft would also have seven opportunities with corner kicks in the first half alone. At the break, the #7 Schoolcraft would lead 1-0.

The Ocelots would come out of the break again pushing all cylinders to try and extend their lead with chance after chance. For the second half, the Ocelots would muster twelve shots but only force the Lake Michigan keeper to make six saves. In the back half of the last 45 minutes, Lake Michigan would show some life and force the Ocelots to keep the ball out of their net. Keeper Jami Martindale would make sure to keep her clean sheet intact as she fought off all four of the Lake Michigan shots in the second half.

Kyra Brandon would lead all Ocelots in shots with seven (three on goal). Next up was Guciardo with four shots (two on goal). Following up would be Paige Stephens with one shot hitting the net and Ashley Hughes going 1-2 on shots on net. Bri Waranauckas and Kebbe would follow Hughes' lead in going 1-2 on shots. Bella Elliott and Claire Edgerton would both attempt a shot but not have it hit the net.

The #7 Schoolcraft Ocelots return to the field on Wednesday (September 20) as they host #18 Kellogg Community College. Kick-off for that top 20 matchup is scheduled for 3:00pm at the Ocelot Soccer Complex.
