#7 Ocelots Get a Top 20 Win

LIVONIA, Mi- The Schoolcraft Ocelots women's soccer team earned their 9th win of the season with a 6-2 victory over the 18th ranked Kellogg Bruins.

The first half was all about Ashley Hughes. After Kellogg got on the board first with a pk in the 6th minute, it did not take Hughes long to tie the game up. In the 10th minute, Hughes would run past Kellogg's back line and finish a pass from Paige Stephens to tie the game at one a piece. A mere twelve minutes later, it would be Hughes again to put the Ocelots up 2-1. The offense would continue their outburst as Kyra Brandon would score her ninth goal of the year to push the Schoolcraft lead to two goals. Brandon's goal would mark Schoolcraft's third goal in a fifteen-minute span. Schoolcraft would have a total of six total shots in the first half.

The second half got started quickly as well when Bella Elliott would score the fourth unanswered goal of the game with help from Hughes and Daniela Alvarez. Elliott's goal would make the score 4-1 in favor of Schoolcraft. In the 73rd minute, Kellogg would stop the Schoolcraft scoring streak with a goal off a free kick just outside of the eighteen-yard box. However, just like the first goal Kellogg scored, the Ocelots would respond quickly. In just the next minute of play, Elizabeth Kowalsky would score her first goal of the year on a cross from Alavarez. The final goal of the game would come from Samantha Guciardo, her third goal in as many games. Alvarez and Brandon would team up to help Guciardo on the goal. In the second half, the Ocelots outshot the Bruins 8-6.

For the game, Schoolcraft would have fourteen shots to Kellogg's thirteen. The Ocelots would hold the edge in corner kicks, 3-1. Jami Martindale would save 8/10 shots she saw.

The #7 Schoolcraft Ocelots are back in action on Saturday, September 23 as they travel to Indiana to square off against Ancilla College. Kick-off for that game is scheduled for 12:00PM.
