#7 Ocelots Earn 13th Win

BENTON HARBOR, Mi- The 7th ranked Ocelots returned to the road on Wednesday to face off against an MCCAA opponent in Lake Michigan College.

The first half would not see any goals for either side but that does not mean that the chances were limited. For the first half, Schoolcraft would outshoot Lake Michigan by a total of 8-2. Five out of the eight Ocelot shots would be on goal as the LMC keeper would push aside all five. Schoolcraft would also have five corner kick opportunities but fail to capitalize on any of them.

The second half would see a much different outcome than the first half. In the 56th minute, Paige Stephens would get the Ocelots on the board with help from Ashley Hughes and Bri Waranauckas. Stephens goal would mark her tenth goal of the season. The Ocelot lead would be pushed to two in the 68th minute when Bella Elliott would capitalize on the penalty kick opportunity which would also wind up being the game winning goal for the Ocelots. Lake Michigan would make the game interesting in the 75th minute when they would get on the board.

That lone goal for LMC would be the only blemish on keeper Jami Martindale's scoresheet as she would make three saves for the game. The win would mark Martindale's thirteenth win of the season.

The Ocelots return to the pitch on Saturday (October 7) as they travel to Jackson College to play in their third road game in a row. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00PM.
