#7 Ocelots Escape With Close Win Over SC4

MARYSVILLE, Mi- The #7 ranked Schoolcraft Ocelots kept their winning streak alive in a narrow defeat of the St. Clair County Community College Skippers.

It was an impressive first half performance from the Skippers keeper. In the first half alone, the Ocelots would pepper eight shots, all on net, forcing the SC4 keeper to make eight saves to keep the Ocelots off the board in the first half. The Ocelots would lead all stat categories for the first half. Schoolcraft would outshoot the Skippers by a total of 8-2. Schoolcraft would also have more corner kick opportunities by a margin of three (4-1).

The second half would look much of the same for the Ocelots, plenty of shots without any goals. For the second half, it would be the Ocelots getting off nine shots, all of which would be on goal. However, the difference in the second half compared to the first half would come in the 83rd minute. Paige Stephens would get help from Ashley Hughes in her route to netting the only goal of the contest. The goal that would put the Ocelots up 1-0 would be Stephens team leading twelfth goal of the season. Stephens's goal would also push Hughes into the team lead with her eleventh assist of the season.

Jami Martindale would get her eighteenth start of the season in net for Schoolcraft. Her three save, clean-sheet performance would push her season record to 15-3 as the Ocelots keeper.

Schoolcraft is back in action on Wednesday (October 11) as they host the Raiders from Grand Rapids Community College. Schoolcraft was victorious by a score of 6-2 when these two teams squared off earlier in the year. Kick-off is slated for 1:00PM at the Ocelot Soccer Complex.
