#7 Ocelots Push Streak to 12 Games With Win Over GRCC

LIVONIA, Mi- The #7 Schoolcraft Ocelots women's soccer team extended their winning streak to 12 games yesterday with a 7-3 victory over GRCC.

From the opening kickoff, this game would start fast, and scoring would come often. In just the second minute of the game, Ashley Hughes would strike first to put the Ocelots in the lead. Hughes would be assisted by Victoria Kebbe on the goal. Just a mere three minutes later, GRCC would strike back to tie the game at one a piece. That tie would not last long as Samantha Guciardo would put the Ocelots in the leas for good in the 10th minute on an unassisted goal. Like it was stated, the start was fast and would stay fast as not even a minute later, Bella Elliott would score to make the game 3-1. Playing in her first game since September 27, Kyra Brandon would quickly get acclimated as she would put the Ocelots in front by a score of 4-1 in the 15th minute on her first touch. The onslaught would continue with Hughes getting her second of the game in the 16th minute with help from Paige Stephens and Elliott. After sixteen minutes of play, the Ocelots would lead 5-1. Things would slow down from there as the 5-1 score would remain the rest of the first half.

GRCC would come out of the halftime with some fight. The Raiders would get one back in the 48th minute to cut the Ocelot lead to three. However, seven minutes later, Stephens would push that lead back to four on a penalty kick goal. Bri Waranauckas would get her third goal of the season in the 70th minute. GRCC would score again in the 81st minute to make the score 7-3 Ocelots and that score would remain that way through the final whistle.

Jami Martindale would get her 16th win in net as she would make 3/5 saves. Before Fatima El-Zein would come in and finish out the game.

The #7 Schoolcraft Ocelots are back in action on Friday, October 13, as they play host to Owens. Kick-off is slated for 1:00PM at the Ocelot Soccer Complex.
